A chawan — the traditional Japanese tea bowl shape. Wide mouth, low walls, footed base. You hold it with both hands. The lower third is raw stoneware — unfinished, rough where your palms rest. There's room to whisk matcha properly if you do that, or to just drink green tea slowly from something that feels more like a bowl than a cup. It's the quietest piece in the collection.

Best for: Matcha, green tea, any drink you want to hold with both hands.

Material & Colors

Hand-thrown stoneware ceramic, fired at 1220°C. Dense, non-porous once fired, holds heat well. Does not stain, does not absorb flavours. Built for daily use — coffee, chai, matcha, washing, repeat.

Six colors, applied by hand in small batches:

Sable — warm golden, even and matte.
Chalk — off-white, clean.
Charcoal — near-black, matte.
Sienna — warm terracotta. Upper body colored, lower third raw stoneware.
Monsoon — cool blue-grey. Upper body colored, lower third raw stoneware.
Jute — warm beige. Upper body colored, lower third raw stoneware.

Each piece varies slightly in tone, surface, and weight. That's the nature of handmade ceramics — no two are the same.

Care

Food-safe. Microwave safe. Dishwasher safe.

Hand-washing is recommended for longer color life, especially on darker or matte finishes. Avoid sudden temperature shocks — don't take a cold mug and put it straight into a hot microwave.

Small changes in surface character will appear over time with daily use. That's normal.

Shipping & Returns

We ship across India. Shipping charges are calculated at checkout based on your location. You'll receive tracking details by email and SMS once your order ships. Delivery takes 3–7 business days depending on your location.

If your order arrives broken, write to support@slowatom.com within 48 hours with your order ID and a photograph. We'll send a replacement, or refund in full if your color is no longer available. You don't need to ship the broken piece back.

We don't accept returns for change of mind or incorrect color choice. If you're unsure, write to us before ordering — we'd rather answer the question than send the wrong mug.

Orders can be cancelled before they enter production. To cancel, write to support@slowatom.com with your order ID.
